The Ryan Cameron Foundation (RCF) ,Porsche
Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA) and Savannah
College of Art and Design (SCAD) teamed up
to provide local families with a holiday to
remember. On December 12, 10 Atlanta
families braved the winter weather to join
in activities, food and fellowship at SCAD
in Midtown.
A snow-flocked Christmas tree tapered over
mountains of presents provided by Porsche
employees. Holiday tunes filled the room as
a traditional holiday meal adorned festive
tables. Children crafted reindeer masks and
decorated cookies, while others participated
in table tennis and life-size board games.
In its second holiday giving effort with the
Ryan Cameron Foundation, PCNA increased its
family sponsorship this year from five
families to ten! The families were selected
through RCF's Youth Health Fair, which took
place in October. The fair entitled Healthy,
Stronger, Living Longer supports the RCF
healthy lifestyle incentive by providing a
free Youth Health Fair addressing Obesity,
Diabetes, Sickle Cell Anemia, Blood
Pressure, High Cholesterol, Asthma, Vision,
and Dental Awareness.
Also at the Youth Health Fair, area teens
were challenged to the Kidfit 30 Day Fitness
Challenge. Porsche awarded the top three
winners with Target gift cards totaling
$300, $200 and $100 respectively. The
winners and their families were honored
during the December holiday event.
RCF and Porsche volunteers staffed the event
by assisting with activities and
distributing gifts to the appropriate
family. Josh Powell, from the Atlanta Hawks,
contributed to each family with gift cards
for the holiday season. Families left SCAD
with portraits which were presented as a
commemoration of the event.
The festive red, white and platinum decor
and atmosphere created a warm and exciting
afternoon of remembering the true meaning of
the holiday season.
Ryan Cameron reiterated the importance of
giving back, telling the children, "When you
grow up and become an adult, you should
always remember that someone you didn't know
loved you enough to do something nice for
you when you were a kid. And hopefully, you
will do the same for someone else one day."
